The Fox’s Essential Secret (of Life)
To live a royally good life, we should keep company with our favorite books. Or, at least be able to conjure them quickly in our Kindles and Nooks. I choose my favorites by their loving wisdom that inspires me, or the blanket of comfort that wraps around me from the page.

I like to highlight parts that speak to me, so I can find them quickly. I’m a total crazy person when it comes to a yellow marker. I have breathed new meaning to the term “yellow pages”. No sense at all really, when the whole damn thing becomes yellow.
I like to memorize lines…
…..Takes some effort. I’m not gonna tell you how much. You might guess my age.
Here’s a sentiment I especially love. I memorized it a long time ago in 9th grade French class with Miss Gordon. It’s from Le Petit Prince. Le Renard (the fox) imparts his wisdom to Le Petit Prince.
It’s the Essential Secret (of life). (What a parenthetical, aye?) Here it is.
“On ne voit bien qu’avec le coeur. L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.” It means: “It’s only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eyes.”
This is a great comfort to the Princess Von Brainisfried. When I think I am losing my mind, I remember I never really needed it anyway.
